About the university
The UCD School of Veterinary Medicine
The UCD School of Veterinary Medicine is one of the leading veterinary schools in Europe, and it has also been granted full accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the European Association of Establishments in Veterinary Education (EAEVE) and the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI). The School is located in a purpose-designed Veterinary Sciences Centre and Veterinary Hospital on the main UCD campus at Belfield. The UCD Veterinary Hospital offers a range of high-quality veterinary services for both farm and companion animals and this caseload provides very important opportunities for our students to complete their clinical training requirements. Its international faculty includes Board-certified specialists in a wide range of disciplines as well as veterinary scientists actively contributing to the development of advances in their subject. Our state-of-the-art facilities and position on the campus of a major research-intensive university allow us to push back the frontiers of knowledge in veterinary research, thus advancing animal health, animal welfare and human health. This research informs our educational programmes, ensuring that all of our students, whether studying to be veterinary nurses, veterinarians, veterinary specialists, or for advanced research degrees, receive a world-class education.
